The opportunity

Our NSW Water team is currently looking to hire a Senior Hydrogeologist.

The location is flexible between Newcastle or Sydney, with the option to work from home 2-3 days per week (if desired).

Our hydrogeologists apply scientific knowledge and analysis to understand groundwater-related issues, including assessing the quantity, quality and availability of groundwater.

Day to day, you will:

  • Undertake hydrogeological assessments and develop conceptual hydrogeological models for projects
  • Manage, analyse and interpret hydrogeological data
  • Write technical (factual and interpretative) reports
  • Manage and contribute to projects with a hydrogeological focus
  • Provide specialist hydrogeological advice
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients
  • Comply with all role-specific SHEQ obligations, including the identification and alleviation/elimination of safety hazards

You will be joining dedicated team of hydrogeologists in NSW whilst being connected to hydrogeologists throughout Australia.

You will work on projects in transport/infrastructure, mining, energy, water resource management/supply and projects that support environmental impact assessments.


What we’ll love about you

The successful candidate will have 5-10 years of hydrogeological experience.

You will also be eager to learn and build a career in hydrogeology consulting and bring the following experience and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology, Science, Engineering or related discipline; a Post-graduate degree in Hydrogeology will be highly regarded
  • Analytical skills with experience in undertaking desktop investigations, data management, analysis and calculations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management skills and focus on quality
  • Ability to supervise and direct contractors including drillers
  • A willingness to learn and share knowledge in a team environment
  • Experience with industry software packages such as AquaChem, ArcGIS, AQTESOLV, Python and PHREEQC will be highly regarded
  • Strong commitment to SHEQ, mental health and developing a safe workspace for everyone
